First Night ferris wheel creates stir in downtown

Posted December 30, 2011

A 90-foot ferris wheel being constructed at the corner of East Hargett and Fayetteville streets in downtown Raleigh created excitement Friday morning.

Crews began putting the ride together around 9 a.m. It will take five hours to get the entire ride set up.

The attraction is part of this year's First Night Raleigh celebration, which is taking on a French theme. Tonight on WRAL News, Ken Smith will be taking one of the first rides on the wheel.

Check out these images I shot of how they put this ride together:

Nothing wrong with showing the finished product first, then how it was made. I like it the way it is.
