Best homemade chips

Posted January 2, 2012

Making the perfect potato chip is an art form. Too much grease or cooking them way too long can kill a good batch. When a bag of Lay's just isn't good enough for your hunger, these places take homemade chips to another level:

The Loop Pizza Grill (Cary, Chapel Hill) - These warm bleu cheese chips are perfection.

Poppyseed Cafe and Market (Raleigh) - Just crispy enough and the perfect blend of salt and pepper seasoning

Raleigh Times' homemade chips

Raleigh Times (Raleigh) - Always crispy and blended with salt, pepper and a hint of vinegar.

Mojoe's Burger Joint (Raleigh) - Crispy and full of flavor.

Honorable mention: Players Retreat (Raleigh) - Their homemade blue cheese help give these chips some bite.

In Chapel Hill, I think Sandwhich has the best homemade chips ever! They are very thin, very light and crispy with a very tasteful seasoning. Also, the ones at Kildare's Irish Pub are very good.
