So, the family is in town for Christmas, but what do you do with them once the big day is over?

I run into this problem every year. My family and my in-laws always want to stay busy, but outside of a visit to tour the WRAL studios, there aren't many cheap options out there.

So, this year I set out to track down some cost efficient options this holiday season.

Rink a key to Raleigh's Winterfest
Raleigh Winterfest - The skating rink is open from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Dec. 26-31. Admission including skate rental is $8 for adults and children.
Art in the Evening - Wander the galleries and listen to live music from Peter Lamb and the Wolves at North Carolina Museum of Art on Friday, Dec. 30 starting at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and small plates and beverages, including wine, beer and non-alcoholic options, are available for purchase.
Tornado Alley 3D - "Tornado Alley" documents two unprecedented missions seeking to encounter one of Earth's most awe-inspiring events -- the birth of a tornado. Check it out at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Dec. 26-31 at various times. General admission to the museum is free but "Tornado Alley" costs $4 for adults, $3.50 for seniors (65+) / students / military, $3 for children (2 to 11 years old) and $2 for friends of the museum members.
Andrew Johnson was born in downtown Raleigh in 1808. Johnson's boyhood home still stands at Mordecai Historic Park.
Mordecai Historic Park Trolley Tour - Take a tour of the Mordecai Historic Park in the heart of downtown Raleigh. It is home to some of North Carolina's most extraordinary treasures, including the Mordecai House and the birthplace of Andrew Johnson, 17th president of the United States. A full tour of the Mordecai House and grounds is $5. The next tours are Saturday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Education leaders in Wake County met with state lawmakers Monday, begging for a budget that goes easy on academics.
N.C. State basketball vs Western Carolina  - The men's team has a game at the RBC Center on New Year's Eve. Tickets start at $15.

How do you keep family busy during the holidays?
