Do you love running? What about eating donuts?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to combine both of these activities?

Wonder no more. The Krispy Kreme Challenge combines the thrills of donut-eating with the agony of running 5 miles!
This annual event began in 2004 as a dare between a few North Carolina State University undergrads. Run from the campus bell tower to the Krispy Kreme and eat a dozen donuts, then run back. Sophomore Ben Gaddy was the first winner with a time of 34 minutes and 27 seconds.
It has only grown from there. Even making it onto Sports Illustrated’s “102 More Things You Gotta Do Before You Graduate.”

You can race alone or in teams. Some teams like to race in costume – which I love!

Registration recently opened for the 2012 challenge, which is being held on Feb. 4 starting at 8:30 a.m. It costs $20 for N.C. State students and $27 for non-N.C. State students.

Proceeds go to North Carolina Children's Hospital.

Spots fill up quickly so you need to register in advance.
I heard WRAL anchor Kelcey Carlson will even be running this year, possibly joined by other members of the Capitol Broadcasting family.

Will you be racing? Who from WRAL do you want to see compete and maybe I can talk them into it?
