L'Uva Enoteca is the latest addition to the flourishing Durham culinary scene.
Nestled comfortably in the American Tobacco Campus between Saladelia and Cuban Revolution, L'Uva Enoteca is the creation of Jim and Teresa Anile, husband and wife tandem who also own and operate the wildy popular Revolution on Main St.

Last week I was fortunate enough to get a small taste of Italy before catching "Come Fly Away" at DPAC.

Upon arriving we were promptly greeted by Teresa and sat within seconds.  It was refreshing to see her leading the charge as all too often the owner is nowhere to be found.

After landing on the beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the campus lawn, we started off with 2 of the specialty wine cocktails.  Both the Frizzantino and Bloom were flavor-packed, refreshing and extremely well-balanced.  At $9 a piece I was relieved to see that our second round, any draft beer, was on special at $2 on Wednesdays.

I was slightly underwhelmed with our appetizer choices, a farm egg bruschetta and a prosciutto snap pea pasta, but like any good restaurant L'Uva closed out the win with its entrees, a succulent pork osso buco and a crab frittata that would make even a Marylander happy.

Unfortunately we were running a bit late for the show at this point but I did happen to catch a glimpse of our neighbor's dessert.  If it was as good as it looked I'd say that alone would be reason to give L'Uva a shot.

For only being a month in L'Uva Enoteca is on the right track.  Every great restaurant experiences growing pains and will undoubtedly have a few opening kinds to be worked out.  Once Teresa and crew get a few more show nights under their belt, watch out, you may have to start making reservations to make reservations.
