Raleigh's Contemporary Art Museum kicked off its latest exhibit last week entitled Deep Surface: Contemporary Ornament and Pattern.

Elysia Bowory, Executive Director of CAM Raleigh, put it most eloquently:

"Deep Surface is the first major exhibition to examine the re-emergence of ornament and pattern over the last 15 years. Deep Surface celebrates its reinvigoration as a communicative, functional, and desirable form of cultural expression, across all of the disciplines of design."

CAM Raleigh opened in April of this year and is a partnership between the community and North Carolina State University’s College of Design.  Deep Surface runs through January 2, 2012.

WIth the recent addition of Visual Art Exchange to the warehouse district this area is becoming an attractive destination for the art lovers.
Couple that with a few beers from the Tasty Beverage Company and dinner at Humble Pie or The Pit and you've got yourself a nice evening out.

Now only if we had a chocolate factory in the area....
