What a scene it was at the North Carolina State Fair this week. At one moment in time TV 5’s Bill Leslie, Monica LaLiberte, Ken Smith, and former TV 5 and now Mix101 personality Linda Loveland were all walking down the midway in one attention grabbing group. One TV 5 “big shot” can get enough reaction at the fair. The camera phone clicking and the “sign my program” requests showed that this was something really cool for many a fair goer.
Reducing the overall impact and market value of the group, I was out in front dragging them all down to play “Whack A Mole” on the old midway near the Exposition Building.
I attended my first state fair in 1990.
“Celebrity Whack A Mole” was an event not to be missed in the fair’s storied history.
You can check out the fierce competition and the surprise winner on “Off The Mark” on wral.com.
Alaska has scenery that will make you stop and stare, the people are friendly, and there is always some really large fresh fish to eat. I never thought a great way to see “The Last Frontier” would be with a group of 25 people I had never met before.
So many people know WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel for his on air activities, but so few know him as a fisherman.
It’s those little out of the way places in life that sometimes make life better. If you are headed up to the scenic portion of Kerr Lake along highway 39 north of Henderson, there is such a place.
During all those years I bounced around North Carolina as a reporter for WRAL-TV, the one thing that could make or break your day was finding “interview friendly” subjects.
