A grand video from Grand Rapids

This has been out there for a couple of months, but we got some news this morning that turns this into a story.

Earlier this year, Newsweek said Grand Rapids, Mich., was a "dying city."  Five thousand people got together to do a lip dub video to the (well-worn) old song "American Pie."  The man who organized the video said,  "We disagreed strongly and wanted to create a video that encompasses the passion and energy we all feel is growing exponentially, in this great city. We felt Don McLean's 'American Pie,' a song about death, was in the end, triumphant and filled to the brim with life and hope."

We learned today that a group called RelocateAmerica has listed Grand Rapids as the No. 2 best U.S. city in which to live.  The list puts Raleigh at No. 4, so the authors clearly know what they're talking about.

Cool Video!

Made me cry. I am from Grand Rapids and moved to North Carolina 6 years ago. It really is a great city!

I visited Grand Rapids about 20 years ago and it was a nice city. I saw this video about a month ago and it is a great production.

I gre up with American Pie as the song on the radio, and I was both amazed at the technicals in this vid, and had to wipe a bit of a tear from my eye as well.

Easily one of the best youtube's ever!

I miss living in Michigan. But I love living Raleigh NC! Go Blue!
