Table for one

Posted September 13, 2010

If you don't have something to read or some text messages to send, eating alone in a restaurant is pretty rotten experience.  Someone else understands that and has created Table for One, a photo blog celebrating those awkward meals.

I remember back in school the times I had to sit by myself and it was a very lonely feeling. Of course, now I just prefer to get takeouts whether I had someone with me or not. I'd rather dine in the peaceful atmosphere of my home during evening hours or if it's during the day (M-F), I take it to work and find a peaceful place to eat (whether with co-workers or by myself).

In my experience, people don't like to be filmed or photographed while eating, alone or otherwise. This person is either really quick on the shutter or they don't mind a black eye or two.

The one with the guy asleep on the table reminds me of a place where I used to work. A guy I worked with used to wait for his wife to come pick him up so he'd study in the dining room. One day I guess he was tired so he put his head down like that. A lady driving by saw him through the window and stopped and wanted to buy him a meal; she thought he was homeless.

this is ridiculous, who cares if people eat by themselves.
