RaleighWood: Have you seen Avatar?

I haven't seen "Avatar" and I'm not sure I really want to. The commercials make it look like all graphics and no story.

The movie took in more than $1 billion worldwide, so some of you must have seen it.

Is it worth seeing? Give me your review.

I LOVED IT!!!! Next time I'm seeing it IMAX.

I loved the graphics and the storyline. I loved the spiritual aspect of it.

And yes I too want my own Banshee!!!!!

Anyone who has not seen this should keep their opinions to themselves until they do see it.

It was a GREAT movie! It did touch on issues that we deal with today: discrimination, environmental issues, religion, and politics. I think it was a wonderful creation and everything looked very real. I left the movie with a fresh respect for our world and the different people that live within it. It made me really stop to think about what is important in my life, and how can I make a difference and help others.

It is definitely worth sitting through - the special effects and beautiful nature scenes are breathtaking.

First, see it in 3D. It’s worth the extra expense.

Secondly, I thought the plot was great. There are more than a few political statements dealing with the cost of war, abuse of our environment, discrimination towards other races, discrimination to persons disabled, greed of corporations, exploitation of this that and the other. Perhaps, this is more than you want to hear from a movie…. But, on the other side maybe we do need to hear it.

Lastly, I left wanting my own winged reptile to fly away on. And a house in the floating mountains to go with. And kinda like Smurfet once did for me, the blue girl (Neytiri) in Avatar did for me again!

I saw it in 3-D in a regular theater and the 3-D effect was good. My guess is that 3-D in an IMAX theater would be even better. It is, in some ways, a "unique" movie and will likely be for most people... "worth seeing". It will by no means become a "classic". The story told within the movie is certainly not new, so don't expect that to "knock you out". The technology behind the movie is not new enough to cause anyone to exclaim... I didn't know we could do that! If you go to the movies to be "entertained" in a "relaxing and fun" way and don't feel you have to get into some "deep" analysis of it, the probability is reasonably high you will like it.

Outside of the predictable racial overtones it was a good movie.

You should go so you can smuggly walk out and say "its just like fern valley / last of the mohicans / the last samurai / pocahontas / "... It is an incredible movie, very unique, and its only like those other movies in the fact that it does have actors, credits, and is projected on a large screen in a theatre. Just relax and enjoy it people...

Some say that it compares to the the release of Star Wars (the first one) in the how it will revelutionalize the film industry. I would have to agree. Seeing it in anything other than 3D or Imax is a waste of time though. When you left you could honestly say "I was there". The people were Real. The SE made them so realistic that you felt that you could touch them. Yes the story was some what used up, but to miss this one in 3D and waiting for the BlueRay disk would be like missing the birth of you first Born so you could watch the Liberty Bowl on low def TV.

Maybe when its own DVD and I can get it at Redbox for $1.00.

My son labeled it as "Pocahontas with blue people," but he hasn't seen it so his opinion doesn't count. I saw it and I loved it. It was one of the most creative movies I've ever seen. I felt transported to a different time and place, and would have happily sat through another 3 hours. I highly recommend it, and I can't wait to see it again.
