Cool airports

My longest involuntary layover was six hours at Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC. What a rotten place.  Boring, boring, boring -- and uncomfortable.

Woman's Day has a neat list of the 10 best airports in which to be stuck.  There's only one in the United States -- Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Florida.  In my travels, I've been impressed with Denver International and the Northwest terminal at Detroit Metro.  What's your favorite U.S. airport?

Wow...cool airports but they're too big and fancy for me. I'd feel more comfortable at the Triple W airport in Fuquay. I wouldn't get lost.

I remember the airport in Salt Lake City as being fairly nice regarding layover. Someone told me that it's a good airport for layovers because the gates were all fairly close. Not much scenery out the window though - makes you feel you are in the middle of the desert.

I remember liking the airport in Denver, although I didn't care for the piano-like tunes which precede messages on the tram that goes between terminals.

Worst I've experienced is Washington Dulles. Awful!

I like Denver International - beats the Heck out of the old Stapleton! I haven't been through Dallas-Fort Worth since 911, so I don't know how much has changed regarding the shops there, but I have always liked it in the past. Chicago Midway isn't bad now that their renovations are done, but the food is expensive there, even more than most. Baltimore is pretty and very light and open.

I like Minneapolis/St Paul - at least if I am stuck there I can find a store with some cool stuff to look at. I like the dinosaur in Chicago O'Hare but I hate to get stuck there (happens 80% of the time I go there - the bad part is that not only do you get delayed in the airport but invariably you get stuck on the runway for 2 hours...)

I agree with Brian, the Northwest terminal in Detroit, with that light and music tunnel between Concourses A & B/C (I think), is pretty amazing.

Now, if this discussion was about worse airports, I could go on for days with my nominations for that.

Thats EASY! Its Triple W Airport in Fuquay (5W5), the home of Aviator Brewing Company!
