My day as a zombie

To be honest, people in monster costumes scare me. They really do.

I remember being 4-years-old and going trick-or-treating with my mom on Halloween. This man – my grandmother's next-door neighbor – was scaring children who went to his front door by dressing up as a werewolf and jumping out at them.

My mother made sure I didn't walk past his house. We crossed the street and went to every other house. But on the way to my grandmother's house after a long night of getting candy, we thought we could just walk quickly past his home. He jumped out from behind his truck and scared me. I, of course, responded by projectile vomiting on him.

That event prepared me for my day as a zombie at the "Heroes, Villains and Special Effects" exhibit at the Durham Museum of Life and Science. My goal was to not cause projectile vomiting.

As you will see in this week's Entertainment Wrap-Up, Emmy-award winning makeup artist Dean Jones and his assistant Whitany Collazo turned me into one scary creature.

After more than an hour in the makeup chair, I was shocked to see what I looked like! A face only a mother could love!

My goal was to interact with children at the museum and show them that just because I may look a little scary, I was a nice zombie. I think I helped a few children get over their fear of zombies. But the sight of me did make two children cry and scream. I couldn't apologize enough to those parents and children!

After posing for photos and shooting the Entertainment Wrap, it took about an hour of scrubbing to finally remove all of the makeup.

What did you think of my look?
