    Isn't it strange that he became an "icon" and kids around the US emulated him on their bikes at home when people today protest cartoons with violence or the all to dangerous "professional wrestling"?

    The most interesting fact from this website:

    "For some reason, despite the spell under which he held an entire nation for nearly twenty years, accurate records were not kept of Evel's jumps."

    I guess the fact of the matter wasn't the jump, or what he was jumping, or even how far ... it was primarily the showmanship, the guy.
