UNC students rally for Anoop

University of North Carolina students are holding a rally Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support UNC grad student and "American Idol" contestant Anoop Desai.

"American Idol" will eliminate two singers this week and with Anoop in the bottom three for the past few weeks, fans aren't taking any chances. They hope the rally will help encourage more people to vote for the Triangle native.

The rally at The Pit will include music from Anoop's 'Idol' and Clef Hanger days.

Also don't forget, I will be hosting a LIVE CHAT on WRAL.com Tuesday night during the "American Idol" performance show. The link will be on our homepage in the Don't Miss It section.

Don't chat-vote!!

Adam or Allison or Kris is going to win the whole thing. Those three and Danny, are not likely to be in any danger tonight. Vote for Anoop so Lil and Matt will go home. He needs votes to stay and you KNOW he's better than either of them.

Maybe the UNC Protestors can join in..they can chant..."No more Usher, No more Bobby Brown, No more Michael Jackson" Over and over again and then perhaps crash a window or two.

Sorry, Anoop might be from NC and is an okay singer..but I'm pulling for Adam.

he can sing, but just my opinion there's two other guys and one girl i would pick over Anoop.

VOTE FOR ANOOP!! He needs support from all of North Carolina. Despite good performances and praise from the judges, he has finished in the bottom three the last 2 weeks, something he did not deserve. Two singers will be eliminated tonight. Some of the less talented contestants apparently have a wider, better organized fanbase. One of the contestants still in the running (Lil) has been consistently lambasted by the judges. But she has a better established fanbase that is voting. So take a few minutes tonight and vote for Anoop (you can get his number from the show (or the AI website) and vote as many times as you can. It's free and all you have to do is hit redial! You can do that and watch hockey at the same time!

Sorry, show starts at 8 PM.

Anoop is clearly better than at least three of the contestants that remain. He has a beautiful soulful voice. Check out his performances with the Clef Hangers on You Tube. And watch the show at PM. You can begin voting at 8:55 PM.

I am always happy to support a contestant from NC, but I don't think Anoop will win. He is good, but a couple of other guys are better.
