Great TV history site

Posted April 7, 2009

I stumbled upon a great site yesterday: Television Production Music Museum.  It's a great site to explore TV theme songs of all kinds.

Brokenjack: It's "Saturday Night Rendezvous" by Mort Garson.

Awhile back you wrote about "The Southern Sportsman" I am dying to know what music cut was used for the theme. It's been stuck in my head since I was a kid. I'm sure it's on some old music library LP somewhere.

Yes, most of these themes have several different cuts. I know our WRAL news theme has about 213 bazillion different versions.

Curious that they don't seem to have anything from "Victory at Sea" ... a groundbreaking documentary series that was on NBC in the 50s ... with music scored for the series by Richard Rodgers.

Still, an interesting site in that many of the compositions are much more substantial than the cuts than were aired with the shows.
