Despite being eliminated last night on “American Idol” last night, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill grad student Anoop Desai still has hope to continue in the competition.
Desai, 22, impressed the judges in previous rounds – which may come in handy when those judges select three “wild card” contestants to move forward.
For the next two weeks the remaining 24 contestants will compete in two groups for the remaining six slots. After that the judges will bring back the contestants for one final “wild card” round.
If Desai can win a “wild card” slot, he would follow in the foot steps of another Triangle native – Clay Aiken, who won a slot on the show through the “wild card” round several years ago. Aiken went on to be the runner-up to winner Ruben Studdard.
What do you think Desai’s chances are in getting a “wild card” slot? Do you agree with the three contestants selected last night to move forward?

Idol ruined his chance by having him be the only one of the group that no one had seen in previous episodes. Now that people know who he his, where he's from, and how good he sings - he can pick up that NC support that almost put Anoop in the running.
