Some classic WRAL nostalgia

Posted July 31, 2008

If you were in central or eastern North Carolina in 1987, you might remember this video

It's the big WRAL image campaign built around the song, "We Mean a Lot to Each Other," sung by Lee Greenwood and Roberta Flack.  It's a whopping three minutes of wonderful WRAL nostalgia, and I hope you enjoy it.  What a production!

Does anyone remember the sweatshirts WRAL sold at the State Fair, which had the sheet music for the song printed on the back?

I was on the "Uncle Paul" show, too! And I remember most of these clips! I love these trips down memory lane.

I was on the the "Uncle Paul Show" when I was 4 or 5 years old. I would love to see that can I find that?

I remember that promo Brian. I grew up in Mamers, I bet nobody knows where that's at. I remember the "Channel-5 sweatshirts" too. I might still have one or two packed up someplace. I remember visiting WRAL in Kindergarten and taking a tour and seeing the weather map that Bob D used. It was a map with stick on sunshines and clouds. The classes used to go watch a taping of "The Uncle Paul Show" but by the time I started school, the show was taped earlier than we could make it. I remember watching Uncle Paul everyday and marching around the living room. Frog Hollow was also pretty good, especially Angrogena with all her "bling". I'm so glad she finally got her own show. What ever happed to her, did she get a job in the movies or something? LOL

I loved that. What a treat to see the news/sports/weather "team" that I have watched for many years...old faces and new. Made me sad to see Ray, John and Jimmy V ..since they are no longer with us. Everybody looked so young. Personally I liked Lee Greenwood's jacket better than his t-shirt and cap!! :)))

    Great find..thanks for sharing. :)

That was a great video to see. I've been watching this newschannel since I was little and have not cared to watch any other channel because they aren't as good! Brian, keep posting cool videos/websites that I can look at on your blog! I'd love to see more WRAL promotional videos!
