Father’s Day is Sunday and if Dad is hard to shop for you may want to take him out for a special day.
Here’s a list of events for Father's Day weekend in the Triangle:
- If Dad is an avid reader, Quail Ridge Books has a list of authors appearing this week. On Friday, "House of Sand and Fog" author Andre Dubus III presents his latest book "The Garden of Last Days."
- If Dad needs a good laugh, you could always take him to "Dearly Departed", presented by the Theatre In The Park, Raleigh’s regional theatre in Pullen Park. Departed is the story of father’s funeral and its aftermath, which includes a list of crazies who are attached to him. Performances are held Saturday and Sunday. After Sunday’s 3 p.m. performance Red, Hot and Blue will be catering a barbeque event with live music.
- The Kennedy Theatre at the PECPA presents Neil Simon’s ”Rumors” on Saturday and Sunday. The play is about four couples who are at the townhouse of a deputy New York City mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. The party never begins because the host has shot himself in the head (don’t worry, it's only a flesh wound) and his wife is missing.
- Bullfighters and horses will be at the State Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday. The Ultimate Bullfighter’s Challenge is Saturday at 8 p.m. The Carolina Main Event Show Circuit, featuring horses, is all weekend.
- The Angus Barn in Raleigh is hosting a special Father’s Day lunch from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
- Bogart’s American Grill hosts a Jazz Brunch ever Sunday. From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the restaurant offers made to order omelet, pancake and Belgian waffle stations, in addition to lunch entrees and a chocolate fondue fountain. Sister-restaurant, Michael Dean’s in Raleigh, also offers has a Sunday Buffet Brunch.
- Goodnight’s Comedy Club, located in downtown Raleigh, is celebrating Father’s Day with comedian Greg Warren, who has appeared on BET and CMT. On Sunday, if you bring Dad to dinner there you get the show tickets for free.
