You probably know this already, but the local TV news business is mighty competitive. It's getting more competitive as choices proliferate.
But this video is a little too much like an outtake from "Anchorman," similar to the insufferable streetfight scene in that movie.
Here's the story from The El Paso Times. In essence, a day after a fatal drag-racing accident, two TV stations from El Paso, Texas, went to the local legal dragstrip. The crowd convinced the news crews to race their (very expensive and top-heavy) live trucks.
It was legal, but maybe just ever so slightly irresponsible. The video leaked out on the Internet and made it on CNN this week. One station canned the photographer who agreed to race the truck. The other station says they aren't firing anyone, but they will discipline the employees.
Good help is hard to find.
