When it comes to gaming, one thing remains certain. If you wait long enough, everything's going to eventually come down in price. Sony's PlayStation 3 price has been reduced several times since launch because of competition from Microsoft, which cut its Xbox 360 prices, and Nintendo, which still can't keep Wiis in stock at $250. For those out there who don't care about price tags, a new home entertainment device from SE2 labs called ITC One (Integrated Theater Console) may be just for you. It'll only set you back $25,000.
New car or all-in-one entertainment box? That's up to you, but where SE2 Labs sees their niche is in the plug-and-play of their new box, whichintegrates audio, HD video, gaming, DVR functions, A/V signal processing and control into a one-box solution that is roughly the size of two PC consoles. Just plug in the power, connect the video source and speakers and turn it on and you have your complete home entertainment system.
The list of previously standalone components that can be included with any ITC One includes: DirecTV high-definition DVR, Dish Network DVR or national cable providers’ DVR (including Comcast, Time Warner, Cox Cable and more), AMX NetLinx Control System, Bryston pre-amp processor with full digital outputs, IcePower high-end D-class amplifiers, Vidikron high-end video processor, Apple Video iPod dock, proprietary remote control, Microsoft Xbox 360, Blu-ray drive, media center, Nintendo Wii, Transparent Cable power conditioning, Transparent cabling and cable harness, and an anti-noise/vibration system..
On the gaming side, while there's no PlayStation 3 option--I guess Sony wasn't cool with price tag--the box does come with the hard-to-find Wii. One note on the Wii is that because of the way it's built into this device, you won't be able to play any games with the GameCube controllers (like the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl) because those ports are blocked. Also, having the Wii and Xbox 360 next to each other probably means there will be some heat issues, especially given Xbox 360s overheating woes in the past.
The other key component for this box is a single touch screen (or remote) control of all of its internal components as well as connected video display, auxiliary components, screens, drapery and room lighting. The remote control for the ITC One features innovations like color volume feedback, remote locator beeper and RF communication. The ITC One is also component-based, which means swapping out and upgrading parts (like when Microsoft introduces new Xbox 360 hard drives) is a snap.
