My friend Bill Leslie did a blogpost last month about a collection of North Carolina postcards on display at UNC-Chapel Hill's Wilson Library.
Last week, I got in touch with Durwood Barbour, the man behind the postcards. The former DOT engineer donated thousands of postcards to UNC. He came in yesterday for a video interview about his collection and a tour of some of his favorite postcards.
As Bill posted in his blog, you can browse digitally through more than 1,000 of the postcards on the library's Web site. Hundreds of the cards are on display at Wilson Library through September 30. The library's site has more information about visiting the exhibit.
Mr. Barbour tells me that each visitor gets a free poster, showing turn-of-the-century Main Streets from North Carolina towns. He gave me a copy, and the poster would be a handsome addition to any Tar Heel home!
