Wild Kingdom with Brian Shrader

Posted July 13, 2007

I'd guess that about 60 percent of the videos I feature on Siteseeing* are of the "Oh, Wow!" variety -- weird, unusual things that make you say, "Oh, wow!"  The rest are mostly videos of cute animals, because people love videos of cute animals.  Right?

Well, here we are with another installment of "Mutual of WRAL's Wild Kingdom with Brian Shrader."   This is video of a Fennec fox cleaning its huge ears.  The Fennec fox is found in the Sahara, and those ears help dissipate heat.  They also help with hunting.

Here's a lot more about Fennec foxes.  Be thee advised that it's from Wikipedia.  Hmm.

Thanks, RaleighRob. Here's a photo of the NC Zoo's Fennec fox:

Anyone who is new to our area should take the trip to Asheboro (not Asheville!) and see the Zoo. We're fortunate to have such a nice state zoo. It's about 1 1/2 hours west of Raleigh, off Highway 64.

It's cute. But I've seen them before...the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro has had one (maybe two?) for years now. The fennec fox exhibit there is in the African Pavilion, I believe.
