Beach Music Day

Posted May 22, 2007

This morning on Fox 50, I said we didn't have anything about beach music on the Web -- at least not in my report.  But there is plenty on the Web about beach music, which is a regional creation.

It is North Carolina Beach Music Day.  If you can use your imagination, you can pretend downtown Raleigh is Emerald Isle this afternoon.

The Embers and the Band of Oz will perform from Noon to 3 p.m. today on the State House Lawn, says the Beach Music International Association, which is sponsoring the event.  I guess they mean the grounds of the State Capitol.

Tonight at 7 p.m., The Embers will perform at the Sheraton Capitol Center on Fayetteville Street.

Both events are free!

UPDATE: Check out Bill Leslie's blog about beach music!

The Embers are Raleigh's own and NC's finest touring beach music band, but they are much more than beach music. Can't wait to hear them again today downtown, and to hear their new CD "The Show Must Go On" coming out soon.
