Xbox 360 Game Prices Falling

Xbox 360 owners who didn't rush out to buy every game as soon as it was released will get some great games at low prices. As is always the case with videogames, prices only come down over time. Microsoft has added eight games to its list of Platinum Hits, and all of them are must-have titles for any collector's library.

Locally-made bestseller "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" from Ubisoft's Red Storm Entertainment has dropped from $60 to $30. And it's by far one of the best reasons to own an Xbox 360. Other great games at an affordable price are Electronic Arts'  "Fight Night Round 3," the best boxing game every made; "Burnout Revenge," one of the best crash-em-up racers out there, and "Battlefield 2: Modern Combat," a great wargame experience. Also reduced to $30 is Tecmo's fighter, "Dead or Alive 4," featuring the virtual vixens who fight with little on. Activision's launch title, "Call of Duty 2," one of the bestselling games for the console, had its price halved, as did 2K Sports' "Top Spin 2," a great virtual tennis game. And RockStar Games' highly addictive "Table Tennis" has been reduced from $40 to $30.

The good thing about price cuts for next gen systems is that publishers generally only drop prices of hit games, which means when they do halve the prices, the games are definitely worth picking up. Unfortunately, those who haven't forked over $60 yet for "Gears of War" will have to wait longer for that one. Microsoft knows a good thing when it sees it, so it'll keep selling that game for as long as it can at full price. It's not like gamers are complaining about its price point, anyway.

Sony will likely institute a price cut for PlayStation 3 games at some point this year. Microsoft waited until its system had been on the market for nearly a year before cutting prices, and Sony still has a ways to go before it hits that point. Sony does have lower-priced programs for both PlayStation 2 and PSP games going strong for titles that have sold well over time.
