RALEIGH, N.C.The Southern Women's Show kicks off Friday at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.

Some of this year's highlights:

  • Stop by the Out and About booth (number 2129 near the Food Lion Cooking Stage) to enter WRAL Out and About's Date Night for a Year Contest! One lucky attendee to our booth will win 12 dining gift certificates and 12 experiences. Participating restaurants include Babylon, Backyard Bistro, Mura, The Oakz, Tobacco Road and Zinda. Experiences include tickets to the Durham Bulls, Raleigh Little Theatre show tickets, movie tickets and tickets to the Hob Nob Jazz Series at Cary's Booth Amphitheatre.  We will also have passes to a screening of The Amazing Spiderman 2 available for the first visitors to our booth each day!
  • BRAVO's "The Millionaire Matchmaker" Patti Stanger will be hosting a Q&A session at the main fashion stage on Friday from 5-6 p.m. Be in the audience for a chance to win hundreds of dollars in gift cards. Get a complete list of celeb appearances on the official website.
  • WRAL's Smart Shopper Faye Prosser will be doing several seminars at the Southern Women's Show. Look for her so you can find out how to cut your grocery bills in half!
  • Food Lion is hosting the Chopped Challenge throughout the weekend. Chefs will be tasked with creating fabulous dishes on the spot, using ingredients selected by show guests from the on-site Food Lion pantry.
  • The Fashion Stage will host a variety of seminars about skincare and clothing, but things really get hot when some local firefighters hit the stage!  It's Getting Hot in Here! Firefighter Fashion Shows, which benefit the Wake County Burned Children's Fund, are being held Friday and Saturday.
  • The annual "Dancing Like the Stars" competition will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. on the Fashion Stage. MIX 101.5's Vanna Fox is among the local celebs battling it out on the ballroom floor. The winners will be determined by online votes on the National Inclusion Project's website and the judges' scores on Saturday.
