RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested four people on charges of attempted robbery and assault early Saturday.

Police spokesman Laura Hourigan said two people walking on Brasswood Avenue were accosted by the suspects shortly before 1 a.m. A vehicle pulled up beside the victims, three people got out, threatened them with handguns and demanded money, she said.

The victims ran away, and the would-be robbers fired at them, striking Henry Campos, of Raleigh, in the lower left leg. They then got back in the vehicle and drove away, Hourigan said.

Shortly after the robbery attempt, police spotted the suspect vehicle, Hourigan said. They stopped the vehicle and arrested its occupants: Treveris Montel Coward, 18, Dondre Tavarius Glover, 21, Joneka Aime Glover, 21, and Wayne Dyron Mitchell, 20.

A Raleigh police vehicle and an ambulance responding to the call about the attempted robbery collided at Creech Road and Slippery Elm Drive, blocks away from the scene of the shooting.

The occupants of the cruiser and ambulance complained of soreness but had no major injuries, Hourigan said.
