RALEIGH, N.C. — The Bay Leaf Fire Department responded Monday afternoon to a drowning call at the home of Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Rev. Billy Graham.

Capt. Jimmy Stevens of the Wake County Sheriff's Department said that authorities received a call about a possible drowning at 5925 Ponderosa Road just before 4 p.m.

According to a post on Lotz's Facebook page, Lotz found her husband, Danny Lotz, 78, unresponsive in their pool around 3:45 p.m.

In a call to 911, Anne Lotz told dispatchers that she had been inside the house and ran out to find her husband facedown in the water.

"He's in the water. He's huge. I can't get him out. I'm just trying to hold his head above water," she said.

Danny Lotz was being treated in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

"There are no answers yet as to the outcome," said the Facebook post. "The family is standing firm in faith, trusting Jesus."

Danny Lotz is diabetic and has been undergoing dialysis for six years, according to a family friend.
