Elm City family knows tornado threat follows hurricane
Wilson County was among the counties hard hit by Hurricane Florence just a few weeks ago. There, in Elm City, the Pittman family is living in their garage, waiting for repairs to a home damaged by a tornado that followed that storm.

The Pittman home on South Barnes Street was damaged in a tornado that touched down during Hurricane Florence. Now, with another storm on the way, the family waits anxiously and watched their tarp-covered roof.
And they are not alone. Other homes in the area were damaged by falling trees, a possibility that raises its ugly head again with Michael's high winds.
