— With the May primary about a month away, WRAL's "On the Record" takes a look at the race for the 2nd Congressional district, the seat currently held by Republican Renee Ellmers.

The 2nd district stretches from Alamance County down to parts of Cumberland County. Along the way Wake, Moore and Harnett are also part of the 2nd.

Ellmers declined an opportunity to talk about her accomplishments, frustrations, and agenda.

Her primary challenger, Frank Roche, an internet talk show host and financial advisor, sat down with David Crabtree and Laura Leslie.

"When God Fearing People made the Laws it was to Gods Laws, Until your Left Wing Godless Society took over"- no one took over anything. We just got some people's religion out of EVERYONE's laws. That's the way it's supposed to work. Don't like abortion- don't have one. Don't like gay marriage- again, don't have one. Don't like bacon- fine, don't eat it. But to make laws that affect ALL of us based on what SOME of us believe is silly and counter to the idea that laws were and are meant to protect and serve us ALL. The only ones saying we are "in trouble as a nation" are the ones who want everyone to live by THEIR standards and beliefs. I think this nation is great and getting greater- more people want to come here than want to leave.

feel it is the height of arrogance to not even show up to talk to the members (via TV) of yourdistrict". Oh--kinda like Kay HAGAN?

Ellmers has been a failure. All she does is nod yes to the tea party, who are out of touch with America. She spends her nights in DC at fancy parties for tea party supporters, while championing for the government to shut down and slap us in the face with "I need my paycheck" hen she jokes about others not getting theirs? This do nothing needs to be replaced, and I hope the sensible voters in the district replace her in the primary.

I feel it is the height of arrogance to not even show up to talk to the members (via TV) of your district. I thought every politician wanted free exposure. I feel very negatively toward her now, not that I felt very positively about her anyway, but it's even more negative now.

"Obey man's law's as long as they don't go against Gods Law's"- we only have to follow MAN's laws since those are the ones that count in a secular society.

Ellmers wants badly to be a career politician, something I think should not exist. She hasn't done much, because she is trying to appease those around her. I wish she had a better record, but I just don't see it happening.

Elmers has been a complete embarrassment to this state. Congress was shut down but she needed her paycheck! What a joke.

Doe he know how to secure his AR-15 or does he leave it propped against the wall in the open garage like Elmers? BTW was that weapon ever recovered or is it on the streets in the hands of a criminal?

Mr Roche needs to scare Renee Ellmers back into reality. She has potential-but seems to slide into questionable country at times!!

    She'll be re-elected!!
