CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Investigators believe an electrical short in the wiring of an air conditioner is to blame for an apartment fire in Chapel Hill Friday morning.

The blaze was reported around 7:50 a.m. at 103 Misty Wood Circle at Shadowood Apartments near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, authorities said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries.

Damage to the property is estimated to be $11,000.
