Edgecombe hunter bags really, really big pig
An Edgecombe County hunter has made the kill of a lifetime: A mammoth wild boar weighing more than 500 pounds.
Posted — UpdatedNorth Carolina Sportsman magazine reported that Jett Webb, of Conetoe, bagged the beast last month in Bertie County after baiting him for a month.
Michael Mansell, president of the White Oak Ranch Hunting Club, told the magazine that the boar had eluded club members for years.
Webb said he plans to consume the kill; he’s making sausage out of much of the pig.
While certainly gargantuan, Webb's boar isn’t the biggest on record. Fox News reported in 2007 that an 11-year old boy shot and killed a wild boar in Alabama that weighed more than 1,000 pounds.
