ECU sophomore hit by car, dies

East Carolina University police said a sophomore was hit and killed early Sunday while crossing the street on campus.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — East Carolina University police said a sophomore was hit and killed early Sunday while crossing the street on campus.
Samuel Matthew Mayo, 19, of Lucama, was struck in the intersection of 10th Street and Copper Beech Way at about 1 a.m. He was taken to Vidant Medical Center where he died.

Greenville Police were investigating the crash, but they have not yet identified the driver who hit Mayo.
