DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham woman who was fleeing a traffic accident died Monday night after she was ejected from her vehicle as it ran off the road.

Angelica Michelle Holder, 27, was involved in a minor traffic accident on U.S. 70 at East End Avenue, according to a news release from the Durham Police Department. Holder was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano.

Holder's vehicle rear-ended another vehicle shortly after 11 p.m., and she sped away from the wreck, police said.

Holder's Nissan ran off the left side of U.S. 70 West and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip. Holder, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

U.S. 70 West was shut down for roughly three hours following the wreck.
