DURHAM, N.C. — Citing illegal dumping and inappropriate use, Durham plans to close all but one of the city's recycling drop-off centers effective July 10.

After that date, drop-off recycling will only be accepted at the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station) located at 2115 East Club Blvd. The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.

The city will begin curbside recycling pick-up July 13.

"The new, 95-gallon recycling roll-out carts should eliminate the need for these centers almost completely,” Donald Long, director of the City’s Department of Solid Waste Management, said.
