Durham teenager killed in ATV accident

— A Durham teenager is dead after an ATV accident Saturday morning around 9 a.m.

Police say 19-year-old Deante Mcquaig was driving an ATV east on Sunstone Drive when he popped a wheelie and crossed the center lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He collided with a Mercedes SUV and was killed instantly. The driver of the SUV was not injured and no charges have been filed.

    Yes, I would make the same comment. Stupid is stupid whether friend or relative. Just because I might know, like or be related to the person doesn't make it any less asinine, or make me any more sympathetic.

    Would either of you make those inane comments if it was your friend or relative that died? I think not. Pretty callous comments IMHO.

    I have to agree with Stacie. I see these people doing dangerous stunts all the time on ATV's with no helmet on, small kids on the back, flying down the highways and doing wheelies. Really...

    I saw a motorcyclist doing a wheelie down S. Saunders Street yesterday. I have no sympathy and kind of look at it as an evolutionary way to trim the gene pool.
