DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Technical Community College’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday selected a new president.

Dr. Bill Ingram has served as Durham Tech’s senior vice president and chief instructional officer since 1995. He joined the college in 1983 and has served as a continuing education director and dean of the college's technical and vocational programs before being named vice president.

The State Board of Community Colleges must approve his appointment, which is effective Jan. 1, at its meeting Oct. 19.

Pending the board's approval, Ingram will replace Durham Tech's current president, Dr. Pahil Wynn Jr., who is retiring.

Wynn spent 27 years as president and 30 years with the college.

Ingram, 54, received a bachelor's degree in English from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master's degree and doctorate in adult and community college education from North Carolina State University.
