Durham schools to hold magnet fair Saturday

I know we've been focusing a lot on Wake County Public Schools this week in our Stepping Up series. Wake's system will host its annual magnet school fair this Saturday.

But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Durham Public Schools also will hold its magnet fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at Southern High School in Durham. Families will have a chance to explore Durham's elementary, middle school and high school magnet options. This is a great opportunity for kids at all levels, including rising kindergartners, to learn about their options.

Durham's magnet program has 10 magnet elementary schools, five magnet middle schools, two secondary schools (covering the sixth to twelfth grade) and six magnet high schools.
