Durham, N.C. — The Board of Education for Durham Public Schools has called a special meeting next Tuesday to discuss the search for a new superintendent.
Eric Becoats, who held the position since April 2010, resigned Dec. 31 after scrutiny in recent months over questionable purchases involving school system finances.
Becoats, who was under contract until June 30, 2016, received a one-time severance payment of $298,072.54.
Monday's meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the board conference room of the Fuller Administration Building, at 511 Cleveland St. in Durham.
