DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police arrested Tremain Antoine Jones, 31, Sunday for a robbery that happened on New Year's Day.

Jones, whose address is unknown, was charged with common-law robbery and held in the Durham County jail on $10,000 bond.

Police said Jones' arrest came as a result of tip from Crime Stoppers.

A 30-year-old man told officers he was walking on East Main Street near Commerce Street around 10:45 a.m. when two men yelled at him and punched him in the head. One man kicked him in the head. They took the victim’s wallet and fled.

The victim was treated at the Duke University Hospital, authorities said.

Jones was arrested last year in the March 28, 2008, robbery and beating of two men in Durham. He was placed on probation in September after being convicted of common-law robbery.
