In the wake of the Dec. 14 shootings in Newton, Conn., The Original Q Shack in Durham is donating 100 percent of its proceeds on Wednesday, Jan. 2, to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Owner Dan Ferguson cited NAMI because it helps families who have members with mental illnesses.

“I wanted to help raise money for services and resources that are needed to support these families. They are not in this alone. Our community is here for them,” he said in a press release.

Note: The Original Q Shack is not the Q Shack, which Ferguson used to be involved in.

The Original Q Shack is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Rockwood District of Durham and it will serve a limited menu.
