— Durham police are investigating two armed robberies on LaSalle Street that happened last week.

On June 16, police said a man was walking when a woman asked him for money. When he refused, a man came from behind some bushes and took his wallet at gunpoint.

Police described a similar scenario that took place June 18. The victim was walking when  a woman approached and asked for money, police said. A man joined in the attack and took the victim's money at gunpoint, police said.

Police are asking the public for help in identifying the gunman, who they said is black with a medium build and short hair. He was in his teens or early 20s, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Investigator Smith at 919-560-4583, ext. 29366 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

People, it was sarcasm...if I hadn't said it, someone else would have and they would have been serious about it.

lets just report the facts, and if someone's feelings get hurt, too bad. that is what news is about, right, the facts of the story. and having been in durham..... statistically, theres at least a 60 percent chance the perps are black. and that's not profiling, thats just stating the facts.

I think that surfething is rfeferring to the prior policy of not stating the race in news stories.

    surething,

Can you clarify your comment, I'm confused. I'm unsure if you're criticizing the police or sarcastically criticizing the suspects. A little bit more clarity may help with your message, whatever it is.

How is giving a description of the suspects racial profiling?

  • YNCSW51 Jun 23, 2009

Surething, regardless of what color they are this is wrong and I hope they are caught soon before they really hurt someone.

  • Surething Jun 23, 2009
