You are "most certainly" wrong, according to Merriam-Webster:

    Hispanic: definition:

1: of or relating to the people, speech, or culture of Spain or of Spain and Portugal

2: of, relating to, or being a person of Latin American descent living in the United States ; especially : one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin

Stop believing everything you hear on right-wing talk radio and do some independent research...

If he is an illegal, I bet they won't catch the guy, but if he is a legal citizen, his but is grass. It doesn't pay to be an honest individual anymore. Sad!!!

"Hispanic refers to people of Spanish descent originating from the Iberian peninsula. It most certainly does not refer to people of Mexican or South American descent."

lol. I love it when people try to sound smart. It "most certainly" doesnt? Then you better tell the Hispanics in this nation who are from Latin American to quit calling themselves that. Oh wait, they only do that for "our" benefit, right?

Welcome to your new Third World courtesy of George W. Bush, the United States Congress, Governor Mike Easley, the NC Legislature, the NC Highway Patrol, the Durham Police, etc., etc. and anyone else who refuses to protect the citizens of this state who pay their salaries from this invasion.

So should we use the term "Latino" to describe them? Or "Mexican"? or just plain "criminal"? Equal rights - lock them up - if illegal, deport them. If US residents incarcerate them after convicting them. Any gang connections here? MS-13 or so?

Hispanic refers to people of Spanish descent originating from the Iberian peninsula. It most certainly does not refer to people of Mexican or South American descent.

Substitute "white," "African American," "Native American," or any other ethnic group in the headline to see why people are annoyed. In the article, it is fitting to describe the alleged assailants, but not in the headline.

    Where's the ACLU?

    Where is ACORN?

Isn't this racial profiling? I mean - really!

I am offended that they take the sheriff to the carpet for calling the hispanics in his county trash, but they don't do anything about pointing out hispanics in Durham.
