— Durham police are searching for the driver of a dark gray 1992 Honda Accord who was involved in a chase and shooting Wednesday afternoon.

An officer stopped the car shortly after 3 p.m. in the area of Southerland and Holloway streets, and a passenger fled on foot. Officers followed, and at some point, shots were fired.

No one was injured. The passenger was taken to the police department for questioning.

The driver fled the scene.

Aerial video footage showed several police cars and crime scene tape surrounding a Marathon gas station near the intersection of Southerland and Holloway streets shortly after the incident.

No other information was released.

According to the Durham County jail inmates search the only person charged with assaulting an officer in the last 24 hours is Gerald Walker. Walker also was charged with a first degree child sex offense and several other felonies.

Seems like a good guy who probably just needs some probation.

jaw8823: The driver abandoned the car, probably at the gas station, thus the taping off of the same gas station.

So did something happen at the gas station to have it taped off?
