Dreama Alexandria Ferguson, 25, and Andre Amon Thompson, 38

— Durham police found 1-year-old Andre Thompson Jr. late Friday night after a day of searching and worries for his safety.

Those worries were alleviated when the child was found safe.

Authorities began the search for the child after his parents, Dreama Alexandria Ferguson, 24, of Hudson Avenue, and Andre Amon Thompson, 37, of Horton Road, were arrested on charges of child neglect in Winston-Salem. The child was not with them at the time.

"Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department, said that while authorities worried about Andre's welfare, his case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert, which requires a more specific description of the child and and a concrete belief that the child has been abducted and is in imminent danger."

Sounds nebulous, but in truth - without a picture, the description of a vehicle he might be taken in, etc. - what would they post on Amber Alert?

Still, you'd think there'd be some way with a child of this age missing, wouldn't you?

Prayers for him to be safe and found soon.

    Quit asking for a picture.
The child is a 1-year old that is seriously underweight. If they didn't see fit to feed him, do you really think they cared enough to have a picture taken of this poor little guy?
I pray he is found safe, and soon.

15 lbs at 1 yr old seems to me to have long been in imminent danger! Where was Child Protective Services???

NEVER even implied it was an Amber alert, but if the public is to keep an eye out, should we just look at EVERY 15# black baby?

Praying that the child will be found safe and placed with a loving care giver.

This isn't an Amber Alert....I mean, it's not like you're going to see a 1 year old kid running through your front yard so you can call police

Normally this would have been my reaction too, but not anymore in this day and age.
