Authorities said the man entered a Marathon convenience store at 3705 North Duke Street at about 8 a.m. Wednesday and bought a pack of gum before demanding money.

Durham police search for man who robbed store after buying gum
DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store on Wednesday.

Authorities said the man entered a Marathon convenience store at 3705 North Duke Street at about 8 a.m. Wednesday and bought a pack of gum before demanding money.

The man implied that he had a weapon, but no weapon was seen, police said.

The man was described as being black with a dark complexion and in his late 30s or early 40s. He was between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet one inch tall with a thin build. He had a full beard with gray patches and was wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled around his face, charcoal gray jeans and sunglasses.
