DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are searching for a man they say has used an ice cream truck to lure and sexually assault two kids.

Fathee Mohamed Rahmah, 51, of Durham, is charged with felony first-degree kidnapping and indecent liberties with a child.

Police said Rahmah is the operator of a red ice cream truck, which has been used to lure two children. The truck is a Ford van with numerous pictures of popsicles decorating the side and back. It has a North Carolina license plate PCZ-3617.

"He had clothes in there. It looked like he lived in there," Christian Arguillar said.

The incidents happened on Oct. 22 in the 1100 block of South Hoover Road and on Oct. 25 in the 300 block of Junction Road.

Monica Ordonez says she's seen a Red Ice Cream truck numerous times in her neighborhood.

"The truck comes, playing the music, then he comes and then kids go for the ice cream," she said.

Durham resident Theresa Spears said the way he is attracting children is disturbing.

"You know kids are going to run to it," she said. "If no grown up are out here, the kids are still going up to the ice cream truck."

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator D. Mussatti at 919-560-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
