Durham Police Nab Accused Purse Snatcher

Durham police arrested a woman accused of stalking other women and stealing their purses and wallets.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police arrested a woman accused of stalking other women and stealing their purses and wallets.

Tammy Walker was arrested Friday afternoon during a traffic stop on Junction Road. She faces 68 charges from five Triangle law enforcement agencies. The charges include larceny, obtaining property by false pretense and financial card fraud.

Walker is facing 14 charges from the Cary Police Department, 13 charges from the Chapel Hill Police Department, 22 charges from the Durham Police Department, 11 charges from the Holly Springs Police Department and eight charges from the Raleigh Police Department.

The Apex Police Department has warrants on her and she is facing additional pending charges in Durham.

The warrants cover incidents from July 2007 through November 2007.
