Durham police look for statutory rape, kidnapping suspect

Durham police investigators were looking on Wednesday for a man charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police investigators were looking on Wednesday for a man charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Fredy Lopez Hernandez, 24, is charged with statutory rape, taking indecent liberties with a minor, first-degree kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sexual battery. His last known address is 1104 Gearwood Ave.

The alleged incidents occurred during February at a residence on South Alston Avenue. Hernandez and the teen were acquaintances, police said.

Hernandez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 to 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
