Durham police are asking for the public's help to learn more about a drive-by shooting that happened early Saturday on U.S. Highway 70.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are asking for the public's help to learn more about a drive-by shooting that happened early Saturday on U.S. Highway 70.

According to investigators, an unidentified person was shot multiple times at about 3:50 a.m. near East End Avenue. The victim was driving eastbound on U.S. 70 when another vehicle passed the car and fired multiple shots into it.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.

Witnesses told police the suspect's vehicle was green. Police said there did not appear to be a confrontation prior to the shooting, and they did not release more information about a possible motive.
