Posted October 15, 2008

— Durham police are investigating two Tuesday night shootings.

Officers responding to a call at 8:42 p.m. found two male victims shot. The first victim was at 1200 N. Hyde Park Ave. and had a gunshot wound to his hand. They found a second man at 1310 Juniper St. had been shot in the stomach and suffering what police described as life-threatening injuries.

Emergency Medical Service ambulances took both victims to Duke University Hospital.

Police cordoned off the area and were investigating. They declined to release any other information Wednesday morning, including the condition of the man shot in the stomach.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

Durham is a great, culturally diverse city. I am proud to live and teach there.

Just give all of the gang members guns! They do themselves in!

Durham in no different than anyother city with the same demographics. Look at any city within America with the same racial makeup and you will see the same results. Across America, cities hire consulting companies to figure out why there is so much crime. They need to save their money! I can tell them for a cup of coffee.

I am not surprised at all that this happened where it did. I would never go into that part of Durham.

Thanks for including the map. You could just zoom out and show all of Durham. Then we would know the area to avoid.
